Gemini-Powered Gmail : Gmail, enhanced by Gemini technology, is now capable of composing and modifying emails for subscribers
Gmail, enhanced with Gemini AI, can assist you in composing improved emails on both web and mobile platforms.
Google has significantly simplified the process of composing emails in Gmail by integrating Gemini into the platform for gmail users. With the newly introduced “help me write” and “polish” features, which are driven by Gemini, users with a paid Gmail subscription can effortlessly write, modify, and adjust the tone of their emails with just one click.
Gmail enhanced with Gemini can now refine, formalize, expand, or condense a draft, or even create an entirely new draft from scratch. This functionality is currently being introduced to Google Workspace users who have the Gemini Business and Enterprise add-ons, Gemini Education and Education Premium add-ons, or a Google One AI Premium subscription.
To utilize the “polish” function in Gmail, a user must input at least 12 words in the draft section on their smartphone. Meanwhile, the “help me write” shortcut will be displayed for users who qualify in the email composition window.
Users can access the new Gemini editing features by swiping to the right. This functionality is available on web browsers, as well as Android and iOS devices. Once users have accessed the Gemini editing features, they can take advantage of various tools designed to enhance their email writing experience.
The “polish” function offers suggestions for improving clarity, tone, and style, making it easier to convey messages effectively. Additionally, users can choose from different writing styles, such as formal, casual, or concise, depending on the context of their email.
For those looking to brainstorm or generate content, the “help me write” shortcut provides a seamless way to create drafts based on prompts or keywords. By simply entering a topic or a few phrases, users can receive tailored suggestions that can be edited and customized to better fit their intent.
Furthermore, users can experiment with the formatting options available within the editing features, allowing for the inclusion of bullet points, numbered lists, and various font styles to enhance readability.
As these tools are continuously refined, users can expect updates that may introduce even more functionalities and improvements, ensuring that composing emails remains a smooth and efficient process.
Overall, the integration of Gemini editing features into Gmail represents a significant leap forward in email composition, empowering users to write more effectively and creatively while saving time in their communications.
In June 2024, Google launched a feature that allows users to summarize emails in Gmail utilizing Gemini, as part of the Google Workspace Labs offering. This capability is exclusively accessible to business clients and individuals with a Google One AI Premium subscription.
