Amazon Prime Members Can Now Enjoy Xbox Cloud Gaming on Fire TV Sticks
You just need a Fire Stick and a controller to get started.
Enjoy Xbox Cloud Gaming
In June, Microsoft revealed a partnership with Amazon to introduce Xbox Cloud Gaming to certain Fire TV devices. As of today, July 8, this feature is now up and running. Essentially, this indicates that the Xbox platform can now be accessed in additional locations without the necessity of purchasing an Xbox console.
An advertisement on the Xbox website highlights that owners of the latest Amazon Fire TV 4K Sticks can now access and play games from the Game Pass catalog. In addition to having a Fire TV Stick 4K, a controller is also required. While Xbox controllers are compatible, PlayStation controllers can also be used (see the comprehensive list of supported controllers). The Fire Sticks are currently on sale at significant markdowns as part of Amazon’s early Prime Day offers.
In order to utilize cloud gaming, it is necessary to have a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as well as a stable and high-speed internet connection. Microsoft suggests using a wired connection for optimal performance, or a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection with a minimum download speed of 20 Mbps.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a console. Xbox Gaming is now available on Amazon Fire TV, allowing you to enjoy playing games through the Xbox app:

Not all games in the Game Pass catalog are accessible for streaming over the cloud. To view which games are supported, you can access the Xbox website and apply the “cloud” filter for a complete list.
Xbox cloud gaming is available in over 25 countries worldwide. To determine if you can access game streaming in your location, simply go to the Xbox cloud gaming website and search for your country.
The introduction of Xbox cloud gaming on Fire TV devices comes after the release of Xbox cloud gaming on select Samsung smart TVs in 2022. Users are required to install the Xbox app on their Fire TV stick or Samsung smart TV as well.
Microsoft provides Xbox cloud gaming as a choice for individuals who do not possess an Xbox but desire to engage in Xbox games. The cheapest option for an Xbox is the $300 Xbox Series S. Microsoft has consistently maintained that it does not anticipate cloud gaming to surpass or supplant the traditional hardware-dependent model, and as such, the company is currently developing a new Xbox device.
There was a time when Microsoft considered developing a streaming-specific Xbox device, but the cost of its components proved too high for it to be viable as a product. As a result, Microsoft is collaborating with companies such as Amazon and Samsung to increase Xbox’s presence in the streaming market.
While Microsoft once dedicated significant resources to promoting new Xbox hardware, this is no longer their primary focus. The main objective now appears to be growing the Xbox ecosystem and encouraging as many individuals as possible to subscribe to Game Pass.
